Retooled?  The last few runs had body mounted couplers - but still too long and riding too high...

Maybe they are trying to beat ScaleTrains from announcing N scale versions or something? Between all the BethGons out there, its hard to think that many need more than a dozen or so for any pike.

And yet Athearn continues to tell N scalers that they haven't forgotten us. It's kinda hard with 1 release (or none) every month that is usually a rerun of something. I'd like to believe them, but its hard at times.
Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

Most likely the graphic artist used the HO info to produce the N graphic (this has happened more than a few times at Athearn over the years). My bet would be on the same old tooling in N when they actually arrive.

Talking to the guys in Denver, they are saying there is a newly tooled car going to be announced for June, so not sure if that is the end of this month, or next.

re: June ... Maybe N scale will finally get some 60' hi-cubes that aren't smooshed!

A scale Greenville 60' hi-cube would be nice too:

Here we are two decades into the 21st century and still no decent 60' hi-cubes  (except for the recent MTL TTX "TBOX" as noted below by ljudice) .

They did mention that being a 90s modeler, I'd be happy with the car...but they gave no hints
