I rode Amtrak between Baltimore and NYC a couple of times in the 90s, but went from Penn Station to DC in 2015, and we maxed out around 127 if memory serves, based upon cell phone GPS readings, I think just north of the bridge near Havre De Grace, MD (which was ironic as I used to love watching trains from that town when I was going through the Ordnance officer's basic course at Aberdeen). We went an awful lot faster than that on the Eurostar between London and Paris in 2018, but that's another story...
A tad off Amtrak. I'm looking fwd to the day when the T1 has 5550 complete and she goes to CO to run the test track and beat the Mallards record. If she's as good as they say she will be it shouldn't be a problem. T1s have already gone faster but it just wasn't documented to prove to England that they lost.
