I have a pretty egregious turnback curve insofar as the track curve is concentric with the fascia curve. But, I made it look like the railroad had no choice but to turn back!

I finally got around to reading your article - nicely done and a lot of good suggestions for beginners and more experienced model railroaders .. several of them I use myself on my layout . I liked the suggestions on keeping the trains from falling off the end loop, since I have 5 of them around peninsulas .. most of the techniques you mentioned I use ..

Congratulations on getting published in MRH

I have a problem area with this bridge -- it's not easy to provide protection to the trains .. I think I will add a walkway on the front side -

One good solution is to use Acrylic or Lexan guards as shown on both sides of this photo.  Those are easily removable for taking photos, but they make operating sessions much safer.

I put Echo Curve in along with the Park City Branch because that's what UP did at Echo

Photo (1) - Echo Curve and Park City Branch in both 1:1 scale and 1:160th scale:

Come to think of it, that's why I put most of the curves in my layout, as well as scenery, structures, facilities, signals, rivers, rolling stock, engines, vehicles etc.

Cheerio!
