Does anyone make any of these style boxcars in N scale?

Question for the product experts - I'm mainly looking at the body style, or something passably close.   I figure I can repaint to the MRL scheme and/or update the doors as needed.

@ednadolski for the PS 5257, you could start with the Intermountain 5277 model, and modify the side sill per that rebuilt prototype.

The photo notes say these started as the older 5077 car, which is offered by PWRS...

Ed, no idea on the others, but these were originally PS-5077s, rebuilt with higher roofs etc by MRL (RBOX series 14000-14999 built by Pullman-Standard, Lot 9794, class XPF10, Jan-Mar 1975 <--- this info from the railcarphoto link above).

PWRS  makes a 5077 but (assuming it matches the original RBOX series) still would represent the re-rebuild car.

The rebuilds took these from Plate B to Plate C.

The Intermountain car might be a reasonable starting point - it's a excess height car so you'd have to do some major surgery (the MRL car doesn't appear to be excess height), but at least there is a flat roof version.

@amato1969  Thanks for posting that pic!  Yes, it looks like the ribs/roof/wheelbase are on or quite close, and the only modifications needed would be the sill as you say, and then the door as expected.   (The weathering/tags on those MRL guys should be a project of itself ).

As mentioned before, these are 5077s with raised roofs, not 5277s.

You'd rather start with the PWRS 5077 and add the extra bit to raise the roof rather than shorten and re-raise the roof on an Intermountain.

@cv_acr  am I looking at the same thing as you are?   I count 5 ribs on both the MRL 21024 proto pic and the IM undec (not including the end posts or door frame).

On closer look it seems the IM shell could also use a bit of styrene strip right under the roof line as well.

That's because as stated several times, these are former "Plate B" P-S 5077s that have had their roof raised to "Plate C" clearance and increasing the volume to 5257.

The Intermountain model is a Plate C 5277.

To accurately model the MRL car from the Intermountain, you would have to first remove 6 scale inches from the height of the body (from below the eaves) and then add those 6 inches back in sheet metal between the top eaves of the sides and the roof itself. If you add height to the intermountain car you're too tall.

Or just use the IM car as a stand in and don't try to replicate the roof raising.
