Sound GT2 decoders ?

I just stumble across a what i think is a new decoder or have I been under a rock ?  They are for N scale steam from what i seen.  Anyone know anything about these decoders ? I have two Athearn challengers that need decoders and I'm wondering if they are worth while.  Thank you,

Although it has a one year warranty  I'm picking it might be hard to make a warranty claim. just some thoughts

Just skip all the Chance taking and BS, and just get an ESU LokSound, from YankeeDabbler, and have them program it with the right sounds for the locos you are installing it in.
Far less risk, far less issues, and you know what you're getting.

Got a small order in yesterday, and another just shipped today.  Busy installing for folks, and did my first set of the Kato Japan decoders into modern bullet-style trains this week!

Rick since you do Japanese stuff, have you asked Bryan when the "ESU 58731 LokSound 5 Micro Direct NMRA DCC Sound Decoder - Kato Japan Type" will be in stock?

Pete, zoom in on the photo -- 6 of them in stack on the left!  But I think I took most of what he had left in stock.   He just received over 100 of the Kato USA decoders this week, so I bet the Japan ones will be back soon (my Kato USA ones shipped yesterday)

Fitting the Kato Japan ones are easy and a pain (at the same time).  They fit nicely next the motor, which is hidden by the fuel tank, in many of the newer models.  BUT, you have to take the entire motor car apart, simply to drill a small hole to pass the speaker wires up into the interior body!  Since, on most of these models, the motor car is a passenger car in the middle, don't even need to worry about wires for lights.  And there are no provisions for attaching extra capacitors (no ground pad) - but the low center of gravity of these models do not seem to need them (so far)

So you are likely responsible for them being out of stock!!

Thanks for the info.  I hope Kato pays attention to those new sound decoders, and molds a speaker wire hole where it is needed in their future releases.

Actually, I'm thinking of repurposing that decoder for an American prototype loco. I know ZIMO makes similar decoder, but I need ESU.  I'm not in a rush, but I was surprised to see them out of stock.
