Alternative Locomotive Packaging

Recently I discovered the packaging for my Scaletrains C40-9 had been thrown away. Would anybody have suggestions for alternative packaging I could use that would not harm the superdetailing?

I would try calling or emailing Scale Trains and tell them you accidentally threw away the cradle, etc.  Offer to pay them to send you a set.  That might get them to send you something for free.  But even if not, the OEM packaging is the best protection for your loco.  Or you can put it on your layout and never put it away.  :)

With so many details on their locos, I don't think there will be an alternative.

Probably didn't.  There wouldn't be any reason for the factory to supply extra, unless it was ordered, and I doubt that there's much of a market for it.

One can sometimes get extras from Kato or Atlas.  Would either of them have boxes/inserts that would fit?

Put feelers out for those that dispose of all their cases.

I just don't get why they do it, but oh well.  9 times out of 10, I'm not buying if there is not a jewel case/box etc
