Steve and Stan, amazed at the amount of new product you guys are still getting to market when lots of other companies seem to be having issues or slow downs in when new items arrive.

Keep it up.

There is something for all Era's this month, from the early YM LINES scheme

405345 YM Line (early scheme) https://jtcmodeltrains.com/products/405345-ym-lines-early-scheme-jtc-405343-40-standard-height-86-corrugated-side-steel-containers?_pos=1&_sid=5928d7a3d&_ss=r
YM LINE (early scheme) - 40' Standard height (8'6") corrugated side with Magnetic system.

Can you guys tell us what "early" means here? I don't have any pix of this scheme on this type of container, so I'm a bit lost.  :D

I model 1975, and early for me means late 1960s schemes.

Thanks!

Mark

This is an early paint scheme as compared to the later Yang Ming rebranding.
Here's a nice photo from Matt's Place with the older scheme on top and the newer scheme on bottom.
http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part1/images/ymlu6130263.jpg

The older scheme JTC is doing is very appropriate from about 1983 to 2000.    [Edit: I think I found one in 1981, too.]   The newer scheme had appeared by 1996.

1976?  I don't know.  I have one photo from '74 that I tagged as possibly being that scheme, but I really can't tell for sure and I'm doubtful.  More likely it's an early OOCL.

Upon further review, although YM Line had a broadly similar paint scheme in the 80s, that non-logo-panel corrugated container seems to be a mid 90s and later prototype.

Seeing as Yang Ming was founded in late 72, I’d imagine most of their stuff would still be in pretty good condition in 1975. Sorry that this doesn’t help with a correct paint scheme for you, @Mark5

Thanks all, looks like this "early" YM scheme is too "late" for me, so I'll pass.  8)

This scheme - Era in use - Early 1980's to 2006+ (at present info)

'45' containers.' - When /if they were to be announced, it would be a Series of body types, including smooth-side, exterior post (19 and/or 20), corrugated side and corrugated side with panels, and appropriate doors, and ends to match prototypes, and equipped with the JTC magnetic Standard. At least that is how JTC would do them!

Kinda vague... But thanks.

Before JTC came along, I amassed a bunch of Deluxe Innovations containers over the years. At the time they were the best N scale containers but I didn't like the fact that they lacked connection pegs/holes. One had to use "container glue" (aka putty) or install their own magnets to make them work. Using putty was very time-consuming so when JTC's containers came along, my plan was to phase out all my DIs and replace them with JTCs. Recently I finally sold off the last of my DI containers (I kept one 40' and one 53' for scientific purposes - i.e. rating the compatibility of well cars). But now I have no more 45s. It looks like the only decent 45' containers out now are Atlas and Athearn, but it's good to know that their pegs are already compatible with JTC containers so I'll be ready when JTC's 45' containers do come out.

Keep it up.

I'm guessing they use air freight to transport their containers from the factory. N scale containers are small enough and light enough items for them to make it work. I've seen the bulk boxes that get shipped to retailers and they're still relatively small. So an air freight container can still pack a large number of them. The prototype CMA-CGM Port of L.A. container was unveiled in June 2021, that's an amazingly fast turnaround to even just get manufactured. In contrast, Athearn's N scale containers which were announced in 2019 only just became available this year. Once JTC makes HO products, that might involve the more traditional sea containers due to their larger size.
