I agree. The one I have from China (analog dial, not electronic) is a very smooth-operating tool, always closes back to dead zero, and now after testing it, I cannot say that the Starrett is any better or worse. But I paid about $20 for the one from China about 20 years ago, which is a lot more than 10 or 12 bucks today. It's more like a $40-$50 instrument in today's dollars, and that's not a cheap tool.
