I'm also more than a half a century old, but my compatriots and I have used the phrases like "metric f-ck-ton of bullsh-t" since at least the 1990s.  Must be tech nerd thing.

I've been also involved in technical stuff (computers, hardware, software, Unix, Windows) since I was a teen (as a hobby and profession) and never heard those terms.  Maybe it is a regional thing?

Perhaps a Bay Area thing, or something from my foul-mouthed Alma Mater. Folks also use "Hella" (east bay) and "Way" (so-cal) as adverbs in front of profanity as well.

Urban Dictionary has had it listed for at least 15 years (2004), although like I said, I've heard it for much longer.
