Keysone Customs announces an N Scale Flexicoil sideframes for use with Atlas or Intermountain SD40-2 and SD50 HTC trucks.

Developed for and tested by our own @Ed Kapuscinski , for his personal conrail fleet, please feel free to add them to yours!

Keep your eyes peeled for additional SD40-2 goodies as well...

The truck frames can be purchased here.

Also added now are three additional detail kits from Keystone Customs as mentioned by @Ed Kapuscinski below;

First, the "Mac-Daddy" N Scale Intermountain EMD SD40-2 Dress Up Kit can be purchased here.

The kit contains the Intermountain SD40-2 snap-in Flexicoil truck frames above, front and rear underbody frame rail gap hiders, and a Conrail style signal box for the Brakeman's forward walkway.

Next is a reduced version for those Intermountain SD40-2 modelers who just wish to hide the gaps with some underbody frames that can be purchased here.

This kit just comprises the front and rear rails for the Intermountain SD40-2 and an optional signal box.

Next is another frame kit for those Intermountain SD45-2 modelers who just wish to hide the gaps with some underbody frames that can be purchased here.

This kit just comprises the front and rear rails for the Intermountain SD45-2 and an optional signal box.

I think John should be designing our trains for the big boys.

Yay.   Since CSX inherited some Conrail stuff so CSX fans need some too.

@Lemosteam
Nice to see these out! I'll put in my order this week.
Any progress on the quote for the PD hopper?

This is mostly a Conrail thing, right? Are there other models that should get this retrofit? SD45-2s?

Now a revised gear tower for these trucks would be even more awesome.   ;)

They would be good for Conrail SD40-2 road numbers 6358-6524 and their second lives on NS and CSX.  They would also be good for Conrail SD50 road numbers 6700-6804 and their second lives on NS and CSX.  You could also use them for certain NS SD40E’s (rebuilt from SD50’s), but you would have to check the prototype as only certain road numbers had flex coil trucks.  Conrail SD45-2’s we’re equipped with HTC trucks.  The only models on the roster until the fourth order of SD50’s showed up in 1986 (6805-6834).  Thanks.

Also, before you guys bite on these, there are also versions with the frame rails to eat up the air gaps. We just made a final revision and I'm going to test fit them today. As soon as we're sure they're good those will be cleared for purchase too.

What is “Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic” on Shapeways?  I have not ordered in a while, and that is the only material choice.  Now I need to find some first run Atlas Conrail SD50’s to try them on, or strip and paint up a few myself. I missed the boat on those when they were released.  Thanks.

@ai5629 it is FXD, or the highest resolution of printing in the formerly named and now infamous FUD, lol.  Anyway, I only offer my trucks in high res FXD for that reason.

The other kits are FUD as it were, because the parts do not have the level of detail that the truck sideframes do.

@Ed Kapuscinski Got any pics of a fully dressed up -2 yet? I’m especially interested in seeing how the frame rails tame the gap.

Only a couple of "in progress" ones and of pre-production ones that John's since enlarged.

But I think the answer is going to be "quite a bit". Even the half-height ones we had made a huge difference.
