ATLAS / KATO GP30 & SD9 Sound install and Lighting question

After seeing some very recent posts regarding ESU decoder installs, I decided to post this short (5 min) YT video. The new posts are excellent reference material for all. Thanks to all for sharing. I did these installs last August but did not make any pictures at the time.

What my question is : is the gyra light in the correct position or should it be in the nose rather than above windshield ? ? ? I will have to correct the light showing in the cab, not good.

Any comments and or suggestions very much appreciated.

Hi Carl,
While I’m no expert in SP lighting arrangements, I’m still learning this, I found this video which shows the flashing lights on a lead loco between the number boards

All the photos I can find of this series of SP/SSW GP30s has the lens of the nose light being red, with two white lights below, side by side, and the two stacked lights above the windshield. I have no idea which light was the gyra light.

Thanks guys. I think I will correct the light bleed in the cab and leave everything else as is. I am just tickled they are working well.

Yes, gyralite between numberboards on these units. Not always the case though (some or all SP U25B's has gyralite in nose, for example).

Nice installs!
