Cutting the steps and pilot off the RDC trucks must be done carefully. I used a dremel cut-off disc at slow speed because the design of the truck is not sturdy and the plastic is brittle with age. I don't want to manhandle it with a handsaw.
All my trucks have been modified but if you (or somebody) post a photo of the bottom and top (Looking right down on each) of your unaltered trucks I can show you the cut marks you need to do.

KATO still sells RDC-2,-3, and -4 body shells and trucks, if anybody is interested.  The shells come pretty much complete w/ windows and blister, with the light tubes and supports. And Even the frames and mechanisms (w/o trucks) are still for sale.

If you want axle spacing just measure from outside on one to inside on the other.

But what if the diameter of the two axles aren't identical ?    ;)

Then that trick will not be exactly accurate to the Nth degree in n scale.  (See what I did then?) Having said that I haven’t come across different axle diameters on the same n scale truck.  Doesn’t mean they don’t exist though. :D

Peteski's basically got it in a nutshell ... my fiddles with the ConCor RDC are based on having seen a lot of 'hackable' Roco mechs.

Most of the Euro ones I have seen have a 1.5mm or near enough to 1/16th " axle.

Cheers, Ben
