Cool paint jobs, they really look sharp in the sun (great photo angle)!

Inspired by the Streamliners event held in Spencer, NC, back in 2014, four years ago a similar event, Streamliners 2016, was held in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia on the 2/3 October. Just a small part of the line up included ex NSWGR DL500Bs 4477/4490 and two former Victorian Railway EMD products. 4490 remains in heritage use, 4477 and B65 are in long term storage, and S302 is in regular use hauling broad gauge grain trains in Victoria.

Caught the B&P local in DuBois yesterday morning. Seems a bit overpowered...

...and a Saturday road trip in search of fall colors and elk resulted in a surprise catch of the B&P running a Driftwood Turn.  Here it is crossing Bennett's Creek and Castle Garden Road.

Some of you may recall that O. Winston Link and Jim Shaughnessy often had people swim and splash in the stream as the train passed overhead on the bridge. In particular ,I remember a Railpace center spread of a VTR train that Jim S had taken in the 1960's or '70's. So I asked my wife if she would put on a bathing suit and go wade out under the bridge, even though the water was barely ankle deep.  Amidst the long string of expletives, I heard the word "cold" and some choice phrases about my sanity. Gawd, I love that woman!! Sleeping out in the dog house last night was so worth it...    :D

Oh man. There's a reason why, at some point, all PRR, PC and Conrail fans think about modeling the Buffalo Line.

Indeed!!  Several smaller (i.e., more model-able) bridges are in the area too.  The scenery is hard to beat, and in PRR days there were enough trains to satisfy the most ardent operations fans.

It's like the Pennsy in miniature. It's got all the flavor of the Pittsburgh Division without requiring 20' worth of usually out of service interlocking. One of the layouts that I often operate on (well, did before Rona) is Buffalo Line themed and it's a lot of fun. Plenty of variety, helper operations, position lights, and enough dispatching challenge to slow things down to an enjoyable pace.
