HELP - New Windows 10 Machine, JMRI and an old PR3 setup

I am setting up a new PC running Windows 10 (so far I'm not impressed) I have a PR3 that I have been using for years on a Windows XP system.
I have been trying to get the PR3 to run on the new box.
Driver seems to load when I move the plug to different USB ports.
When I try to start JMRI I get a message that the port is either in use or not found.
All of the settings (except different COM ports) are the same as on my old PC
  I am running a Digitrax Super Chief (2009 - vintage) DCS-100.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you gotten new Windows 10 drivers for the PR3?

the newest driver is from 7-2007 ouch! Downloaded and replaced the existing driver anyway - just in case there were any errors moving the driver over from the old machine.

Turned out that the PR3 needed a firmware update.  Had to run it from the old XP system to get it to load.

Thanks for the reply.
