Where’d That Come From

Finally got tired of having to force my modeling toolbox to close, so decided to empty it and at least repack it in a neater manner so it would close easily. I needed to look busy because my wife has the spring cleaning bug, and I don’t want to discourage her... or get Shanghai’d into helping and then getting criticized for not doing it right.

Some of the expected items were culled out, old hardened superglue, some old squadron green putty that was no longer putty like, random bits of crap, broken drill bits and, of course a couple of “I’ve been looking for thats”.

The big surprise was a couple of brand new (in 1995 anyway) Atlas GP7’s that I had bought at a train show and stuffed them into the toolbox because my train case was full. It was the last train show of the year and since I was exclusively an NTrak modeler then and we had lost our club layout space in the mall, the modules were either going home or into storage. I took my modules and trains home, put them away and promptly forgot about the 2 GP7’s.

So, I’m glad I found them, but now the DCC conversion list is a little longer.

As an added bonus today, the Blueford Shops transfer cabooses I pre-ordered on 9/10/17 showed up in the mail. I remember when the only decent RTR caboose was the Micro Trains wood sided caboose. But this also reminded me of a couple of old Aztec Bay Window cabooses I found when my wife handed me a big box she had found at the back of our under stair closet and said it looked like “train stuff” (At least she didn’t say train crap), plus a bunch of other treasures.

I can just imagine DKS’s collection and trying to keep track of it all. My buddy Bill’s spreadsheet inventory list is looking like a good idea.
