Found it:

Ah yes, I remember that discussion, because I started it!  :)

I also realize that the "V60" I referred to in my earlier post is actually a "V100":

Here it is with a Bachmann coupler:

I might have mentioned this elsewhere, but I too thought that I might convert my European models to Kadee (MTL) couplers, but soon I realized that it was a mistake.  The main reasons not to do it is that even the newest models still come equipped with Rapidos, and those couplers work pretty darn well anyways.  Either coupler system doesn't  look anything like the hook-and-link used in Europe, and I'm not striving for super-realism anyways.  Rapidos stay.

I have been buying a lot of Arnold stuff on eBay, lately, and it seems about half have come with Rapido couplers on them and half Kadees. I was planning on converting the ones with Rapidos on them to Kadees but I think I'll just leave them as is. In fact, I have had fleeting notions of changing the Kadees back to Rapidos. Crazy, huh?

Crazy? Not at all - see my earlier post.   As they are now, you can't easily used them with all your Rapido coupler models.  Best to stick with a single coupler types for all your European models.

I totally agree with Peteski; as I may have mentioned before, Rapidos work better than I remember, and having all the same type doesn't hurt, so it's Rapidos for my Euro stuff, and MTs for the rest...

You know, I've never been clear on how to attach a "url".

If you do a Google search of "Railways of Germany Forum", that site is the first thing to pop up. It says something like "An english speaking forum for enthusiasts and modellers". (spelled with 2 "LL"s)  :)

Hope that helps.

Sounds like it is https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/germanrailfr/

If you know how to use smileys, you can also attach a URL.  Actually if you just copy the URL (link) for any website fromo the location field on top of your browser right into your compose window, the link will work (at least in my browser).

But to do it properly, while you are composing your message, when you're ready to paste the URL link, click on the button with a picture of a sheet paper in front of Earth globe (second button from the left, in the lower row of buttons).  It looks like this . If you hover over it, a label will pop up stating "Insert Hyperlink". That will insert
Code: [Select]
with the cursor in the center of that code.  Then just paste the URL link there, so it looks like
Code: [Select]
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/germanrailfr/And you're done.

You just need to copy and paste the URL into your post. it will automatically show as a link.

And, I hope you guys realize I was being tongue-in-cheek with my post, above. I have dealt with Rapidos vs. Kadees for many, many, years.

To insert a link, or image, in the Quick-Reply box, I just type url and /url (or img /img), with the brackets, then paste the link in.  For me, it's easier and quicker than going to the "Reply" page.

Where is there a quick reply box?  That is a new one on me.
That also explains why you don't quote posts you reply to. At least in the usual quote way (like I just did).

If anyone here does check out that site, I'd be interested in hearing what you think. There's lots of great links to be found there as well.
I'm guessing it's ok to discuss it here, since it hasn't (yet) been deleted. It's not really in competition with "The Railwire" per se, so maybe that's why...

I guess I'm naive because I  don't think the owners/moderators of TRW forbid discussing any subject, with the excepton of politics, religion, and personal attacks. Ok maybe track cleaning too. . :D
  :D
But  seriously, are other online forums that restrictive?  I don't really frequent other forums - this is my online home.

AFAIK, TRW is not a for-profit website - it is here for like-minded individuals to share ideas and information. Other online forums are not competition - they are just alternate sources of online information. Then eBay is also a source of models and modeling supplies.  Why would those be forbidden from being mentioned?  Actually, the TRW's openness and includitivity is what makes me stay and hang around here.  The large percentage of very skilled modelers is another good reason to hang around - I can always count on learning something here.  Members can also trade and help each other with our projects. All very helpful staff.

I guess as a moderator (of the tiny  FAQ section), I can say, don't be afraid to bring up any subject here, except for the few forbidden ones.  Just post those subjects in the appropriate forums!  ;)  If I'm wrong, I'm sure that one of the "real mods" will correct me.
