Body mount tender coupler for Kato Mikado

Hi guys -

I am looking to install body mount couplers on Kato Mikado tenders.  Will an MT 1050 work, or would another MT coupler work better?

Try a MTL Z905. Would look much better.

MTL conversion lists suggest a 1129.

the 1129 isn't a body mount, its a t-shank replacement for the truck mounted

True, sorry I mis-read your question.  Two nearly identical questions in a row.

I assume you meant the 1015 (not 1050, since I can't find anything numbered 1050).
Personally, I have always used the 1023.  However, looking at one mounted under one of my engines, the back of the coupler box still doesn't reach the truck axle, so a 1015, which is shorter, should work just fine.

I can't say how the coupler height will work.  The 1023 works very nicely with just a .010" or .020" shim between it and the bottom of the tender.

The mounting height for both differs by only a few thousandths of an inch.  For all practical purposes, the 1015 and 1023/25 mount at the same height, using the same hole location.

Like Max, I still prefer the 1023/25 (I use the 1025), because while it's a longer box, it's also thinner, and looks better under the end of a car.

Yes, I meant the 1015 in the original post.  I will have to try the 1025 out and see which one I like best.
