Bought my first 3D printer last week, the Monoprice IIIP for $190. Not the greatest resolution, but wow! I can import components (one at a time) from Adobe Illustrator 2D and easily transform them to 3D. Bought primarily for detail parts like bollards, cable reels, winches and cranes but, as I'm learning how to manipulate stuff, I've imagined much more. Definitely will still buy from my designers, who have served me exceptionally well, but this is a new convenience! It took me all of 10 minutes to import a crane and get it printing. Of course, it took ten minutes to print it while it takes five to assemble it from 2D parts, but the printer can print while I do other things. Easier than I thought to switch to 3D.
Now you can make n scale boats and boat acessories that fill no flatcars and gons . You could sell these , I could buy some .
Amazing price!
