A suggestion:  Allow multiple models from a manufacturer, and count them separately, to get a "MODEL" winner.  Then, since you already have the totals, sum them by manufacturer, and report that total for the winning manufacturer.

Maybe I'm mis-reading but it sounds like that would skew the results towards mfgs that produce a wide range of vehicles..

MFG A gets 1000 votes with model 1
MFG B gets 1200 votes with model 2
MFG A gets 400 votes with model 3
MFG C gets 1100 votes with model 4..

MFG A wins with 1400 votes?

It would, but ANY voting system skews something in some direction.  Since all of the models are also listed, one could see that MFG A had the most total votes, but that B and C both beat them for most popular individual model.

And, if the mfgs were concerned about their rankings, maybe they'd make more new models?  But I doubt that most of them care where they rank, as long as we keep buying.

The Enhanced N Scale Vehicle of the Year Award goes to Trainworx for Mike Sabia’s Kenworth W900 semi-tractor.

I shy away from posting raw vote totals, but the winner of the New N Scale Vehicle of the Year Award received approximately 3 times more votes than the second place model.

And, the winner of the Enhanced N Scale Vehicle of the Year Award received almost twice as many votes as the second place model.

The Trainworx trucks were the clear favorites of those attending the convention.
