There may have been a design change and maybe you DO have a one piece bolt and pin.  If you wanted I would be glad to redo the bolt or replace with a new bolt or even bolts with the end machined straight and on center to receive a couple of sizes of replaceable music wire pins.  This would not require a hardened bolt which would make drilling the bolt easier.

Wow, thanks for the offer to machine me a new ram bolt - that is really very nice.  But, I can do that for myself when I can get to my shop, which is when I will find out if heating the existing pin with a torch will "kill" any Locktite and let me salvage the existing ram.  I agree that the any new bolt does not need to be harder than a regular (2 grade) bolt. 

I am pretty sure from looking with magnification at the junction of the pin with the ram screw that the pin is a separate piece.  And, I did seem to get penetrating lube into the gap, because it smoked pretty good later when I heated the pin with a soldering iron. 

I will post whatever finally happens.  Thank you all for the suggestions and offer of help.

It will be interesting to see if there is any Loctite (as non was used on the two I own).

Mine arrived in this morning's mail. I likely won't mess with the stock ram, instead pick up an Allen-head bolt at the HW store, drill it for a bit of music wire and that'll do what I need done.

Even if red or green Loctite was used, a hot soldering iron should be enough heat to debond it.  Of coure a torch will be the ultimate....more power!
