I finally painted my side boom crawler. So I recreated a scene that happened a few weeks back on the real Skally Line. One of the flour mill workers pushed some PD hoppers through a closed switch, dropping a couple on the ground. I need to get a second crawler to finish the fun.

The only thing missing is a CSX locomotive :-)

Ha! No CSX on this line (not yet at least)! I got some of the signs and a roof on the Creekside Cafe this week. I’ll finish the rest of the signage Wednesday I hope.

That is about the most midwestern cafe I've seen on a layout.  nice.

Thank you! I've tried to match the prototype halfway decently. I still have lots of work to do.

I’ve been making some progress. Nothing major. You may have seen in the weekend updates that I planted another 140 trees. Now that they are in I was able to run a couple more feet of power lines. They come off the backdrop, cross the track, turn 90 degrees and parallel the tracks for a couple of poles before terminating.

Today I finished decorating the end pole, well, mostly finished. I should add another transformer to the pole.

I’m waiting for a batch of pine trees to show up for the next part of my forestation project. I am also swapping the factory metal wheels off some Athearn 2 Bay hoppers in favor of FVM 3601s. They roll more smoothly.

I also am adding an SW1500 to the layout. ILSX 924 has been leased to the sand plant (in real life)and is on its way to the Skally. Hopefully I can get mine mostly done by next week. I got it stripped and will start detailing it tonight.

Kman,
I love the power pole guy wires, nice touch.
Are the power lines on a freemoN section?
Nice work over all.

Thanks guys! It’s all on FreemoN sections. I have 2 sets of power lines done now, this set is on my North Branch modules, just north of my frac sand plant. The other set is over the end of the yard in Rush City.

Thanks! Once you notice how common they are near tracks a scene kinda looks empty without them.

I’ve been working on the scenery closing in on the sand plant. It’s time for me to get the buildings caught up. I could do this as my modeling contest entry, but I think I’ll keep it here. This structure goes on the side of the main building.

Here’s the area I was greening up. It’s a big empty field. I may static grass it at some point, but the sand plant may also be expanding their trackage into it.
I weathered the blacktop after this photo.

More progress on the filtration system. Hopefully TRW won’t rotate my pic on me this time.
