@GaryHinshaw
Um, you read the thread and didn't fix the scale icon? :trollface: :trollface:

I’m out of town, using my phone. Didn’t have time... ;)

I thought the 53’ wells were original, and that the 40’ wells were cut down from 48’ Husky Stacks.  The only mods I know of on these is the removal of the trailer hitches. Anyone?

The reason I asked was that it looks like there are sections spliced into the car in the prototype photo.

Here is a photo of DTTX 471500 that does a better job of showing what appears to be splices.  http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3038357

I found the answer to my question.  This is a rebuild of the 48-ft all-purpose well car, not a rebuild of the 48-ft Husky Stack.  Walthers already has this model in HO.

Here is a link to the Model Railroader review of the Walthers model.  http://mrr.trains.com/news-reviews/staff-reviews/2016/02/wm-k-walthers-ho-scale-well-car

Edited for clarity!   :)

Thanks Carl, good to know.  So Atlas will be producing both the 40' and 53' rebuilds.  :)

I see lots of 53' Gunderson conversions at work, both Husky Stack and All Purpose, the welds are very obvious up close... I don't ever remember seeing a thrall car "stretched" however fwiw.

This is super exciting. Hope they do C. H. Robinson and Matson in future runs of containers.

Here's also hoping they are comparable with the Scaletrains and Kato 53' containers I have amassed!

Nice, the range of intermodal equipment is getting better all the time.  Still a few stand-out gaps in the fleet though.
