LocoBuffer 2 problem

Hi folks,

I've been trying to get my old LocoBuffer 2 working again, but it won't talk to the command station, I'm getting a 306 error back in JMRI.

I've tried it connected to a DB150 and then a DCS100, and with the later programming on the main and on a programming track.

Any ideas?

I'm running Java 8 and the latest version of JMRI.
I have the LocoBuffer 2 connected to the PC via a usb to serial adaptor
JMRI sees a connection on the appropriate com port
PC is running Win10 (actually a brand new laptop as I messed up my very old one yesterday trying to turn it into a Lubuntu machine).

 Since your PC sees the COM port you probably have the drivers for the USB-Serial adapter installed okay.  Make sure the speed for the COM port is set correctly for the LocoBuffer.  The default is 19,200 baud.  If that doesn't work then try 57,600.  You can download the manuals from here --> http://www.rr-cirkits.com/LocoBuffer-II/locobuffer-II.html  Hopefully you have either the E or F versions other wise you might have to write Dick Bronson at rr-cirkits to get the one for yours.  Hopefully setting the right speed works.

thanks, I have checked that and both are running at 57600 baud (even have the dip switch set on the buffer to match this). Right now I'm trying to rebuild the very old laptop with Linux as it has a serial port so I can retest without the USB adaptor, just in case that's causing some issue. If that's a fail, might have to consider getting an alternative to the LocoBuffer, maybe a PR3.
