I already ordered a pack of the MTL metal wheels to test them against the Fox Valley wheels I use with aplomb.
I have a number of freight cars that obviously roll with more drag when putting the FVM wheels in them.  It's never been enough to make me stop using FVM wheels, however, because they look *and track* so much better than the OEM MTL plastic wheelsets.  But the drag is noticeable, even in a train of only 15-20 cars.

However, if these MTL wheels spin in the sideframes like MTL plastic wheelsets I will be giving serious consideration to switching.

Max, that's great, thanks for taking the plunge.
I too would like to consider using them, but will wait for your assessment before ordering.
Let us know what you think please.

And RPOs, Baggage Mail, Full Baggage,  Diners, Sleepers, etc - what where you thinking?

Not sure what you mean by this "Bethlehem". Some of the PG class coaches (the quintessential N&W HW coach) were rebuilt with "modernized" roofs: http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=65722

I was comparing single window to paired window coaches and combines.  B&O and PRR operated paired window coaches and combines.  NYCS and WM operated single window coaches and combines.  As "single" or "paired" window designations usually are not applied to RPOs, baggage or diners, I did not mention them.

Pullman Company seemed to prefer the paired window design for its heavyweight first class cars.

Reading Company heavyweight passenger cars have a rounded roof, as opposed to clerestory.  Unlike, say, Lackawanna baggage cars or SP Harrimans, though, the rounded roof on the Reading Company cars was flatter than those on the Lackawanna or SP.  I saw a photograph of either a Reading car or a re-built N&W head end car, I forget which, where it was captioned "Bethlehem" roof.  As Reading ran through Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, I assumed that this style of roof had something to do with that.

I was not thinking of the rebuilt HWs. although I have seen the photograph that you posted.  It looks like it would be not that difficult to bash one of those from one of the C-C GN cars.  The roof line is certainly there.  You would have to lay in a new window line, add steps, switch out the four wheel for six wheel trucks, remove the skirting and add underbody details.  It might take some time, but it could be done.

The graffiti seems out of place, but otherwise, it's a beautiful set!..Unfortunately, I do not allow those MT 50 rib side boxcars on my layout... But it is a great looking set!

Those SP hoppers look like they belong on the interchange track on the McCloud Railway in Mt. Shasta, CA. Nice work!

I like the CR covered hopper but the conspicuity reflectors date it out of my era. The other models have proportional issues I can't accept as well as being weathered beyond my era.

I do like the set and intend to buy one. I assume that the loco is of the latest run and is dcc ready. The other day, I received my BNSF Fuselage Transport set. Any chance there will be another run of these with different numbers? Availability seemed to be pretty limited on these and I think many people may have missed out on these.
