The Panasonic g9 has a neat "hi res" mode where it takes 8 photos while shifting the sensor 1/2 pixel in each direction. The end result is a 20MB (or 80MB RAW!!!) image 10368 pixels across. The other advantage is the image is sharper with more accurate color, as there is no color interpolation needed since the sensor movement compensates for the Bayer array.
I thought I would test it out on a HO scale tunnel motor I've been weathering for the book.
