That does happen in rough seas.  Could be wrong, but vaguely recall a container with MRR stuff doing just that.

If a non favored mfg announced that, I wonder if some of the skeptics here would believe it?  It would be like the schoolteacher asking if the kid had run out of grandmothers to die......

The manufacturers have to be careful with discounts because they cannot undermine their dealer-base (or distributor-base), which comprise the significant bulk of the sales. If the dealers stop buying, you're done as a manufacturer.

Direct sales from their web site I believe. Rapido is probably going to have to do the same thing. Just before Christmas they had a two for one sale and undercut every dealer.

How does ExactRail survive?

It seems that they noticed they needed to expand beyond their "direct only", as Exactrail products have recently been available through MBK and I think a few other online sources as well. Maybe they partnered with those online retailers directly?

Let's not confuse Arnold (Rivarossi) and Rapido.
I know Arnold had a BOGO sale but I don't think Rapido did any such thing.

Good point, my error. I looked at my U-28's and they all say Arnold. Sorry about that.

Well, Arnold/Rivarossi merger is also old history. Nowadays it is Hornby/Arnold.  Hornby (in Spain) is the parent company now that is just using the Arnold brand name.
The original German Arnold company used the name rapido for their N scale offerings.  The current Canadian manufacturer Rapido Trains isn't related to Arnold/Rivarossi/Hornby companies at all.  Before Rapido Trains came along, the original German Arnold company never sold any models using just the rapido name. They were always Arnold rapido. The "rapido" branding was always all lower-case letters and it hasn't' been using by Arnold (or any of its future reincarnations) since IIRC the 1980s, or even earlier.
