BLI Lightning and Thunder

I REALLY want to simulate fog on my layout but have no idea how that would work. I did since experimenting with dry ice and a photo module and wasn't impressed with the realism... It only goes about 3" before dissipating and the chilled air created strange vortexes or changes in density depending on the material under it.

                    I just use a large sheet of tin flexed like old time radio sound effects guys while someone flips the room light switches on and off a few seconds after or before the sound. Yes even the old Lone Star cast metal box car with it's sold cast on details, looks better then the BLI cattle car except for the Lone Star hook and loop couplers. Nate Goodman (Nato).

The BLI cattle car was molded as a solid box because they needed an air-tight enclosure for the speaker to maximize the sound fidelity!

Can a moderator move all the BLI stock car posts that are hidden in here into a new thread, called something like "BLI Stock Car Slam"? They should be made easier to find, and to accumulate to hopefully send a message.

I was looking forward to the K7 car, but now will not be buying any. Bummer!

Maybe they should have molded the car with the normal see-thru slats for the non-sound cars and then had a clear plastic enclosure that was glued in for the sound cars?  Still doesn't explain the solid corner stirrups. Too bad all of the advertising that I've seen is using HO illustrations and artwork and nothing of what you'd get. I wouldn't be happy paying $25 each for a non-sound version and have it looking like that. I mean, to get a solid cattle car you have to drop down to the most cheesiest department store battery sets

My post was tongue-in-cheek.  But if the real reason for the solid shell was as a speaker enclosure, then as you say, there could have been alternatives which would have given the car that airy look.  I really don't know why a brand new N scale model looks like a toy from a dollar store.

Back to the OP. Here is a video I did of the Treasure Coast Model Railroad's thunder storm. It uses one of the thunder and lightning units that are around for Halloween. It was bought a Spirit Halloween store. Used some poly fiber and black paint to make the cloud with the lights behind the cloud.
