FUD and Vinegar

So, I was building my G32C gon (FUD body and brass plates) and I went to soak it in the vinegar...now, maybe I soaked it too long (accidentally did it for an hour, and I think @bbussey said "only a couple of minutes") and my brass plates that were CA'd on basically dropped off.

So, the model is fine, no warping or anything bad. Just need to sand off the CA and reglue, but I'm curious as to what happened. Thoughts?

No, I said "Ed's Law."

Obviously a chemical reaction happened!
Vinegar is diluted acetic acid which will etch metal (like brass).  Maybe that is what happened.  Or maybe it reacted with the CA glue weakening the glue joint.

I usually prep (etch) photoetched parts before gluing them onto the model. The etched surface is better for both, glue and paint adhesion.

Pete is correct, the acids in white vinegar will dissolve CA.

Robyn liked this tip. She's frequently using CA in her jewelry work. Not to mention she already buys white vinegar in 5-gal. cases at Costco.
