Bucyrus Erie 30B (GHQ)

To all you Bucyrus Nerds out there...I'm painting the GHQ kit and would like a little history.  I have done some "Googleing" but have found little information.  What time frame were these produced?  Does the GHQ model represent any certain "phase".  I have seen pictures of them painted yellow and maroon with green boom and undercarriage.  When was this paint scheme offered?  I don't think decals are available, are there?  Thanks guys!

You can find them for sale with build dates within that bracket . They would still be out there today but not near as much as then , and mostly now used in junk yards and the like .

worked at a quarry down in FLA in '85---we had one that went for a swim in the pit. owner decided to do a rebuild instead of repair once it was pulled out. Painted "as delivered"---yellow and maroon. He even found a set of NOS decals on the shelf somewhere. Can't tell you the date of original manufacture.

Yes, the Maroon & Yellow with dark green underframe is indeed how most were sold and shipped. The paint lasted from the 40's through the 60's and was applied to their entire line.

I finished up the crawler for GHQ to use in their promotional material.  I ended up painting it in Bucyrus Erie colors and printed out some plaques on my laser printer.

No,  But they only took me about 2 1/2 minutes to make by downloading an image I found on the interweb and printing it the appropriate size on my printer.  Cut it out and glue it on.  Good to go.
