Which 1017 did you use?  It appears there is a revised version that doesn't use the T-shank coupler:

I'm sorry, I didn't realize there were two versions of that coupler. I used the new/revised one, use the hole in the rear to screw into the bottom of the actual tank.

I admittedly didn't know there was a revised version until I test fit the older version that I already had in my parts box.

The coupler height with the old 1017's is fine with BLMA trucks, but the T-shank coupler box doesn't want to play nice with the trucks on curves....
