Is Shapeways Backed-Up?

I received notice this morning that a couple of shells I ordered two weeks ago in FXD are just now going to print. No feedback about the length of time since order (nor apology for the delay).

I'm taking this two ways - first, the apparent amount of business indicating evident success. Keeping everybody busy with production is a good thing. Second, they're too busy, are victims of their success, don't have the capacity to keep up with the incoming work, and like my own experiences in a similar field, the lead time for adding capacity won't solve the problem this month or longer.

Anybody else noticing this?

I sent a drawing to try out the new material on the 4th and it didn't go to the printer until the 12th and it hasn't updated since.

Depends on how the stuff fits on the build trays I'm guessing.  I got parts today that I ordered just five days ago.  I'm guessing it also depends upon where your items are being rendered.  Mine are built in Queens, which I'm guessing is a large facility.

As it so happens, I just got an Email that my order is on it's way.

It's always taken me 2-3 weeks to get items from Shapeways, sometimes longer. I've only been ordering for the last 11 months, but I always just assumed they have limited printer capacity and that such turn around times were typical for 3D rendered items, so I plan accordingly.

The reason I said something is that for all of my previous orders, regardless of size or material, it has been no more than 2-3 days between ordering and the "on the way to the printers" confirmation.

I may have to allow for possibility that one of the shells was backed-up in the manual review cycle, as it could have been the first time it was ordered in FXD.

Where else is Shapeways? I thought it all came from NY (if ordered in this country).
