About those Atlas New Haven Trainmasters ....

... this may be a good case for when pre-orders don't stack up the loco's not made. Four different numbers and a mythical paint scheme for a loco the railroad never owned? It's not like people have been wailing years for this like the K4, so I'm not seeing the point. I can't wait to hear what bbussey thinks ...

At least Brooklyn Locomotive Works mentions the Trainmasters were demoed by New Haven but not purchased.

Hmm... I can't imagine
anyone reserving all
three numbers...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I wish I could get myself to buy the CNW ones because they look awesome in the artwork, but I've already got the shells to make the Baby Trainmaster they are supposed to stand-in for.

They will get made, as New Haven is a very strong road for Atlas. I don't have a problem with them because Atlas is advertising them as a fantasy scheme. Where I have I problem is when a manufacturer puts out a fantasy model and promotes it as authentic.

New Haven did run the TM-1 and TM-2 demo models and contemplated putting an order in but never followed through. The Atlas scheme replicates the FM artwork that was proposed to the railroad. So while prototypical, it never was applied in practical use. Similar to the 50' checkerboard boxcar scheme and the black/white/yellow EP5 (although an EP5 did physically get painted in the scheme and wore it for a day or two).
