Arnold/Hornby replacement parts?
« on: December 14, 2015, 11:37:24 AM »

Does anyone know if there is a source for replacement parts for Arnold/Hornby locomotives?

In my quest to install dcc sound in the Arnold SW-1 is made some mistakes that damaged the shell of one of the 2 locomotives that I bought. I did buy 2 on purpose knowing that I'd probably make these kinds of mistakes. But now I see it as a learning opportunity. I'd like to repair the shell if possible with detail parts.

Also, I need wheel sets, but I've no clue where to start on this. Essentially I want to truly delete the traction tires as they are completely unnecessary on such a unit.

Any ideas?

Contact the U.S. facility, they have some spare parts.  I don't have the information offhand currently, but you can Google it to get the phone#.

This seems so obvious when you say it. :)

My google-fu is terrible and it never occurred to me to look on the hornby site. Duh! I kept looking for dealers.

Thanks so much.

The parts department phone number is voicemail, but I got a return call the next day.  They are in Washington State if I remember correctly.

They might also have a website for the U.S. facility, and I might have gotten the phone# from there.

This is the fellow I met a Trainfest who wanted photos of my Milwaukee Road repaint.

Arvids Breikss  (arvids.breikss@hornby.us)

BTW I asked him about a Pennsy SW1 on behalf of a friend and he said it was under consideration but not yet decided.

Best regards,

Roger

What they really should do is a Pere Marquette SW-1 #'s 10 and 11. Just for me.
