Took some pics to show the different draft gear available

and then, since it looked like it might be sitting a little high, compared it to an ESM X58

took the BLMA trucks off the ESM car, put them on the GTW, and set it next to the untouched CN

Nice looking model overall, not big on Accumates myself, ride height looks like it could be a little lower, but unless your trackwork is close to eye level, you might not notice. Hope Atlas makes these underframes available for kitbashing, and uses them on their products going forward. The Evans design WSOR double plug door cars should have this feature, not sure about the other roads using them. I used ESM X58 floors on Microtrains (cuz Microtrains are 50' rather than 52), and used z scale couplers attached to brass channel to extend the Atlas cars

Thanks for posting the photos of the cars Rick.  What type of trucks did Atlas use on the cars?  Their regular 70 and 100 ton trucks, or their new recessed bolster type?  The drop in ride height when the GTW had a BLMA truck swapped in makes me think it is their regular trucks.  That means the ride height could be lowered with a BLMA truck.  It looks like the coupler on the GTW car with the BLMA truck would line up with the ESM X58 coupler.  That would be about as good as your could get with the ride height then.

+1 on these cars. Between these and the 40'ers, Atlas has impressed me. Didn't think I wanted any BCRs, but with the quality, I am thinking about a couple.
Buffering...

My order hasn't arrived just yet but I already have an issue with these cars... they only did four road numbers of each scheme. MOAR numbers please!

Which 40ft cars were you so impressed with? I wouldn't mind some 40ft box cars.

He's referring to the PS-1 boxcar.

I received my CN and GTW boxcars today.  Nicely done.  I found only the GTW (5111 body) needed adjusting, as both the car and the couplers are too high.  I swapped in BLMA 70' Ride Control trucks and that corrected both.  Given that Atlas has an exact version of the BLMA 70' Ride Control truck (used on the ACF 85' TOFC), it would appear to be a factory production error.  My CN (5277 body) appears to ride at the correct height, and the coupler height matches up with existing equipment including all ESM models.

Picked up 1 CN - I presume at some point Atlas will do the repaints?

These have body mounted couplers with extended draft gear on the GTW version that I inspected yesterday.  8) 8) 8)

Awesome job, Atlas!

Anyone tried putting the Atlas draft gear/bolsters on the TLT newsprint car yet?
