Adjacent auto reversers with no "standard" track between them will not trip a breaker. Standard being a section of main line to reference the reversing section to. A short will just be corrected by one of the auto reversers. That makes the other section short, the adjacent AR swaps phase to correct the short. The cycle repeats until the quarter is removed. The circuit breaker never sees the short.
knowing now that the yard tracks connect, I agree with Gary. Put the whole yard section on a single AR. The AR should work down line from a circuit breaker as long as the AR is set to trip faster than the CB. The CB should then work if the short is continuous.
