Is there an easy way of fitting MTL couplers to these?

Not really. I kitbashed hybrid coupler boxes on the USRA hoppers using the MTL 1015 box, but you have to cut/mill/file in the centering pin pocket on the Bachmann embedded coupler box and remove the box sides. Doable, but not a quick job.

True.

I know this is a matter of opinion, but I think the Mchenry's are also too big. It was a great concept but I wish they made them a little smaller.

You are correct. I compared them to other couplers here (this was before Bachmann made the "boxing gloves".
