More IM SD40-2 pictures

They've announced SD40-2s, SD40T-2s, and SD45-2s, with and without sound.  The later two models have previously existed, excepting the sound feature.  I don't know why people are quite so standoffish about the SD40-2s considering that if you're familiar with the other two you can have a pretty good idea of what sort of model it will be. 

I do not recall them announcing straight '40s, only dash-2s.

It's exactly because we ARE familiar with the other units... I'm hopeful the SD40-2s I'll be better, but that's tempered by experience.

What I meant is, the comments along the lines of 'I have to know what they're really like before I pre-order' don't make any sense to me.  Between the picture and what we know from their previous models you can be pretty sure of what you'd be getting.   (Aside from the sound version, that is.)    If you were disappointed by the previous models then you have no reason to expect these to be better, except for what can be seen (e.g. separate grabs).    If like, me, you find the previous models acceptable, then you have no reason to expect these to be worse.

Right, except you perfectly described me. If they're on par with the 45-2s, I'll be waiting for them to hit bargain bins.

If they're significantly better, I'd make my pre-order right now.

But all I have to go on is reputation and some mediocre photos of manhandled pre production models, so my wallet is staying in my pocket.

Ok, so it's October now.  Anyone hearing anything about these yet ?  They have listed as October release, as does the FP9's they are doing.  I checked my email message showing my order at LHS, dated 3/9/14 .  Hoping I get my birthday present on time this year, as I was expecting to get this as a birthday present LAST year.  As of this message, 25 days and counting.....
