before I call and attempt to explain - does walthers sell individual life like locomotive parts?

im hunting for GP18 sills and a GP60 sill but would like to avoid having to buy the whole shell. 

anyone dealt with them?

Yes, but they generally tend to have parts on hand for products that have been released recently.  It also helps to have the parts diagram sheet handy so that you can refer to the parts by their proper component numbers.

I have dealt with them in the past, and had good luck (in that case, it was to get some extra Walthers/LL Berk trucks).
But more recently, about a month ago, I put in a call for the same parts, and while the fellow on the phone
told me that they had some and he would call me back, he never did.

I have not continued chasing.

I ordered some Berkshire Tender trucks a few years ago.

The price was um ... high.

I got the trucks, and get this: they were obviously used.  :x

Walthers (unlike Atlas or Kato) does not sell or stock replacement parts. But they have friendly repair department staff and if they can, they will try to get the parts you need (either sell of just send them for just the shipping cost).

Could you use a GP7/9 cab from Atlas?  The GP18 fits the Atlas chassis, and the prototype cabs are very similar, if not identical, so the model cabs might work.

If you need a decorated one, that's another matter.
