Photos?
Being a hard core Espee fan, I am eagerly awaiting info on the new Intermountain SD40-2's coming out with the sound decoders factory installed.  I am anxious to know if the new sound decoder boards will be a straight drop in on earlier releases of their other -2 units.... particularly the tunnel motors.  If so , I am in hog heaven!
They are holding their cards in close this time around...  Someone spill the beans already.   :D

Now remember guys, if this new Lok-sound decoder actually fits the old Intermountain frame, we are talking a possible drop-in application for Atlas geeps, SDs, etc also....  (sound profile changes applicable?)
This is the break ive been waitin for to get a full mix of sound on entire lashups instead of just a unit or two in consist....
OK, heart be still now...

Hmm...
I might just go into cardiac arrest if Loksound or Sountraxx actually designs a drop in decoder for any modern split frame locomotive... I'd be happy if they got their current line up smaller than 10.1 mm wide (avg. width of hood units)
But who knows as of yet...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but any decoder that fits the old Intermountain frame is not going to be a drop in for anything else.

I believe all ESU decoders can have the sound profile changed, so if you're serious about your Geeps and such you should probably just start buying ESU decoders and hardwiring them.    There's always the adage that the manufacturers will come out with something as soon as you've completed the project yourself.

The IM SD40T-2 and SD45T-2 can use the same Digitrax board as the Atlas SD50-60s. The difference and reason for 2 part numbers from Digitrax is the headlight length but the board is the same size.

I think you're confused.  Perhaps you meant to refer to Atlas GP40s, etc.  (Digitrax --A0 size).     I hadn't noticed that the frame contacts have the same spacing before, but if that's what you meant you're right about that.

At any rate, having to cut off and reattach LEDs still means it's not a drop-in.
