ESM — GSC Well Car - production complete!

The upside-down look of the prototype compared to the model is puzzling.

I know virtually nothing about these cars other than the two pictures in this thread. Was there more than one type of GSC well car? Were they largely built to order for a given road and therefore had some different variations depending on the road? I was wondering the same thing as the Chalmers prototype seems to rise quite a bit in main well area versus the model pictured.

2 1/2 years ago Bryan was looking for a Well Car prototype.  The winner was this GSC car that was a very good mach for a small number of roads (D&H, NYC, LV, PC, CR have been listed).  This AC scheme is a throw-in due to the perceived popularity and for just being cool, even though it isn't a match to the prototype. 

Bryan has always made it clear this was a 'foobie' (his words).  The part I don't remember is if there a reason this scheme is being done so soon.  It was supposed to be a later release.

The model is of a different prototype... As Bryan said its a foob... Both cars were built by gsc...
That being said Allis Chalmers had quite the fleet of cars to carry various big metal things, so it isnt way out there...

The production run of the 2014 holiday car was cut way back due to the contractor missing the delivery deadline months ago.  It made sense to tap the one-of-a-kind A-C scheme to pick up the slack, given that the surplus quantity available from the truncated holiday run is less than the quantities of the prototypical cars.  The A-C was a better choice to move up than DODX and some of the other schemes scheduled for the second run.

The '69 ORER list 400 and 401.  Also 3 other (different) well cars and a depressed center flat.

We are getting pre-orders trickling in from dealers and distributors as consumers ask them about it.  But officially, the pre-order forms will be sent out once the cars are on the water.  The contractor has missed dozens of deadlines that they've set, so I won't believe anything until the container is en route.  At that point, everyone will be able to order them.  There should not be a massive rush so I believe all demand will be met.

Good to know.  In the event that this first one does sell too quickly, we can run a second one.

I think foob status might be the only reason I buy one    All the other paint schemes are too new for me, but this one...
