I don't speak much B&O. Which one of the above would "go" with some sunburst GP-30s? Please educate me. Thanks much!

a Great Scheme on a Great looking Loco !!
too bad it didn't last longer.
Speed Lettering B&O on the long hood could have
made it even better, but that never happened.

Right, so like, what kind of caboose do you think the above train had on it?

So what years were the sunburst used? That will tell you what caboose to buy.

As far as the FVM wagontops go and since this train is a solid lash up of GP30's in the sunburst scheme indicating early 60's I would say either of the red wagontop caboose schemes.

There were a few GP30's in the sunburst scheme lingering into the early 80's.  I'll dig around and see if I can find a photo, but I know I've seen at least one.  By that standard, even the Chessie version would work--with appropriate weathering.

Ok, thanks! I guessed the blue (pool) caboose. Rats. Have to try to get a red one then.

Update: Just got a red "middle" version with the "B&O" above the cupola.

Thanks B&O guys.  ;)

It depends on your era.  The dates of operation on the various schemes are on the PDF referenced above.  Based on your era, you can determine the correct scheme.  Blue might be correct, as it is the 1960s scheme, but you have to check the dates!

Yep.
I have collected photos over the years.
A handful of these cabs made it to July 1986 at the formation of CSX.

True- many were in dead lines.

But it appears at least a couple were still in service.

As for the sunburst....
Here is a better photo.
A couple made it to CSX in their original sunburst-- though very faded.

But CSX gave some person/convention permission to repaint the cab on the following around 1993 or 4.
