Athearn announcements several in N

On their website they have the November announcements up under the New Arrivals and announcements page. In addition to the new FGE Reefer, they have a 20,900 tank car that I think is old MDC tooling. The 40' Fruehof Z Van trailer, More 40' Quad Hoppers and 2600 Covered Hoppers. More N in one month than we've ever seen from them.

Ooh, I could make use of the FGE "Solid Cold" reefer (non-sound, of course) and the 40' Fruehauf Z-Van trailers!  Thank you, Athearn.

Santa Fe trailers will definitely get bought by me, along with probably a full set of Solid Cold.

Not sure why they are re-running the other trailers, there are quite a few of those still available from previous runs.  They could make bigger bank on Penn Central.

The only reefer I could use is the FGCX car, all the others being too modern.  That said, FGE and WFEX pooled their cars, so my BN could use several of them.

The usable trailers I already have, either from earlier runs, or from Trainworx, so I'll pass on those.

One reason I could see for rerunning these, rather than doing new roads, is that they could make them NOW, and get some sales, rather than waiting for the new artwork.  I wouldn't be surprised if new roadnames appear in the near future.

Good to see them in the swing of things again. Like the trailers. Will pick up the owner/operator. The ex MDC tanks are a little pricy, but I like the schemes. I have been hounding them for the FGE cars in N, so I will buy the lot with half sound equipped.

Honestly... good times to be a modern reefer modeler. MDC, CC, IMRC, RC and now Athearn all have slightly different phases (with a bit of overlap on the IMRC-MDC and CC-RC cars). IMRC even has rebuilt cars. BLMA and ER have the fat boys. All we need now is a new cryo car since they seem to be making a comeback. Nice to see an entire industry pretty well covered.

Now lets see them start to cover modern tanks!

Nice to see this from Athearn  8) As far as trailers are concerned I like the Chessies but lets see some Conrail Trailvan trailers! No ones doing those currently.

Yeah, but that doesn't explain the lack of Penn Central.

Just ordered 4 reefers (1ea ARMN BNSF BN Solid Cold) and 2 tank cars. (1ea PTLX and DOWX)  The tank cars are at least in the ball park.

Hopefully Athearn will do these reefers in the early BN WFCX/BNFE scheme yellow with the black BN name and herald, like this one.  They apparently came with WFCX reporting marks, but BN started using BNFE by 1974, so I can use either one.  The rest of the lettering remained the same.  This picture is from 1985, so has the mid 70s consolidated stencil, and lacks the ACI label, but is otherwise original.

Yes, fat tired fingers strike again, and sight-typing with limited light doesn't help!  The BN didn't exist in 1965...although I do have a 1967 employee timetable and special instructions from them.  They issued them before the courts put the merger on hold.

I've edited my post.  Thank you!

Ah, Solid Cold... thanks!

Could also use a Solid Clod, too  ;)
