I thought I was the only person to do this.  So far it hasn't caused any problems with the track and I'm satisified with the results.

My interpretation is that it gives the same affect to the track as does clipper oil and what I've been using, the Labelle Track Conditioner.

Yes, it will contribute some black on the rails, but for some odd reason the black doesn't transfer to the locomotive wheels and it (the black) is conductive.

I know David, said he wasn't partial to something like this because of the black, but I'll tell you, a year ago until I started using the Labelle Track Conditioner product this past July, I was constantly having to clean the tracks... Using a "who's who" of track cleaning products.  The locomotives would pick up non-conductive black residue faster than you could say "Jack Robinson".   I was constantly cleaning the track and loco wheels. 

I haven't cleaned "jack" since August.

I've recently tried lacquer thinner at the suggestion of a chemist's post on Tonys DCC and I am liking it so far. I just dampen one of my Masonite pad cars and away I go. Drys quick though so I need to build a car that keeps the pads wet.

Ian, are you still using the lacquer thinners?

I have been told of a product NO-OX-ID by Sanchem, it appears to be a current conducting grease that when used sparingly has some very good results. Has any one seen or heard of this product, may been even used it?

I have a few of the old atlas cars where there is a stone mounted on the bottom and is spring loaded , and as you run it in your consist it cleans the track as it runs around the layout Nd have had these for about 20 years and when the pours get filled with gunk I just use an airbrush with some alcohol and spray it and it comes right out,  and I do this about once a year and have never had a problem !
