hello my son had painted his ho scale engine with a lot of layers of dark blue craft paint how do I strip this without damaging the shell?

If it is a water-based acrylic paint then dipping the shell in household ammonia might also soften the paint.

I've not had great success striping acrylic paints with Alchohol (but do use it for all factory paints). I've been using Simple Green on any models that I've painted with acrylics and had to strip.

I have used me clean also this removes the paint well but you have to keep an eye on as. If you leave it in to long it will soften the plastic

I used the 91% alcohol and it worked great removed the craft paint and factory paint!
