Well, the GSC 1958 version that will debut as an N scale model this fall is similar.  In fact, we'll be "foobing" this one-of-a-kind car in the second or third release.

Almost looks like you could cut the ESM car just inside the bolsters to flip the outside rails, then remove the girdle/belly.

Or you could just fly with the "Foob" which looks pretty cool in itself.

I wouldn't recommend modifying it, as it would affect the weight and low center of gravity.

In its last years the prototype for the Lionel car was stored here in Milwaukee (West Allis) on a siding at the former A-C plant. I photographed it in detail in April 2005 while hosting the Railroad Industry SIG meet and it was scrapped by early June. It was orange.

I will be more than happy with that GSC 1958 version Bryan . Will it come with decals ? Wow , I feel a need to blow out candles now . Anybody into FUDing up a suitable load will get a sale by me as long as it doesn't scream out loud a post 60 date .

It will be plastic/diecast painted/deco'd ready-to-run.  First release will be this fall.  D&H, NYC, LV, PC, CR.
