Bachmann 2-10-2 question

Howdy,

I'm lookin at the Bachmann 2-10-2 as a starting point to build an SP F-1 class. I know, the wheel diameter is to small. I think I can live with that. What I would like to know is:

What is the dimension from the center of that huge front coupler to the back of the cab-?
What is the wheel base- from the pilot wheel to the trailing wheel-?

I have a CC 2-10-2-- it's just way to long for my needs. If The Bachmann is anywhere near 154 scale feet (From the front coupler to the rear of its cab- I think I can make it work).

Center of stock big-a$$ coupler to back of cab is 53.5'
The overhang of the cab roof pushes it back to 56'

If you ignore the massive front coupler, the distance from the tip of the cowcatcher to the back of the roof overhang is 54'.

I scratchbuilt the turntable on Effett Yard 8" specifically to fit my 2-10-2:

Will swap out the Hulk Fist couplers for MT905's soon!
(And install a Tsunami sound decoder in tender as well).

It's been said, now somebody's gotta do it.  Make a giant green foam fist (like 4-5 feet across), and stuff that bad boy on to a prototype loco's front coupler. 

Me thinks we need to get Amtrak involved for some easy good humor publicity.  Is there a new Hulk movie coming out soon?  Avenger 2 maybe?  "THE HULK SPECIAL, now arriving track 2"

I would love to- however coming up with an F-3 casting would be a challenge. My skills are no where near that level. I can remove details and add on ready made details. I'm not able to produce my own. I think I'll stick to using the Bachmann- and coming up with a reasonable representation.

You are 100% correct- The B-mann's couplers are beyond ginormous!! They are rediculous and very cartoonish. Somebody else came up with a great description-- boxing gloves!!!

To the OP- The big issue with SP/T&NO 2-10-2's is they fell squarely outside the dimensions of the USRA 2-10-2's- the F-1's were smaller than the USRA light 2-10-2's with bigger drivers, and the F-4 and F-5 classes were bigger than the USRA heavy 2-20-2's. I think a stretched Kato Mikado is the best option for an F-1.
