Also depending on what you need I could probably cut some stuff for you at a wayyyy more reasonable rate.

I'm just a the very very starting point, decided I needed to do some mock ups just to get a feel as to how the city will fit into its designated area, looking at basic questions like orientation of road, background structures, a good height for tallest buildings, etc.  The city will be on the second level which is 60 inches, so debating about how high tallest structure should be, keeping in mind lighting valance which isn't up yet.

So my first structures will be very basic probably without windows, just do I can get stuff up fast so I can begin to properly plan for what I will be eventually doing.  Also these mock ups will be my first tentative steps to building high rises.

Sounds like a good idea, I wish I did more mock-ups when I was building my city.  Sometimes the size of something in your head and plans suddenly seems way too big or small in person.

But let me know if you ever need anything, I like helping people out with laser cutting.  Buildings, specially urban stuff, is soooo expensive in our hobby so I love providing free or low cost alternatives.

Trust me, I've bookmarked this thread, I have a house in Qualicum Beach with a son moving over to Victoria so I'll be in the area lots in about 5 months or so. He's a model railroader and railfan freak as well.  He used to work at Central Hobbies.

Cool, if you ever want to use our laser cutter I'd be happy to give you a tour/demo.
