There are several shops in the Milwaukee area.  The 2 that I visit regularly are Greenfield News & Hobby on 68th & Layton Ave in Greenfield (just south of I-894) and Hiawatha Hobby on Silvernail Road (west of the airport and south of I-94 in Waukesha).  Greenfield News is the larger of the 2 and carries plastic model kits, R/C, arts & crafts and has a huge magazine selection.  Hiawatha Hobbies has some plastic kits and R/C stuff.  Both are well stocked with N scale.

Sommerfield Hobby on Hampton Ave in Butler (near the UP yard, west of US45) has a good selection of O scale.  Not much N scale there.

I have not been to any of the other shops in Milwaukee in a while.

If you happen to drive north to Green Bay, Engine House Services LLC is a great shop.  I"m on their mailing list, shop there whenever we go see the in-laws, and do some online business with them when I'm not buying from Chuck.  heir N scale selection is almost as good as MBK.

Hmmm? Is Engine House Hobbies and the Railroad Museum in Green Bay worth a 5 hour detour?

Maybe yes.. if the Madison and Milwaukee shops are reported to be dull.  ~Ian

I think so .. you can also add the Packers stadium tour as well l

If you've never done the museum in Green Bay, it's worth your time.  The lighted Drum head collection is pretty cool, and theres some good stuff outside in the steam shed.  Sadly, the Alco Century outside in GBW hasn't been well cared for, and i htink the club that was in the building in the parking lot has moved out.
