Hi Josh:
The tender looks great. To answer your earlier question, wheels and some other lower hardware may have been painted black rather than DGLE, but with a minimum of weathering, there is virtually no difference between black and DGLE, so don't sweat it.
For the coal load, I would recommend painting on some glue (I use carpenter's glue) and sprinkle on either real coal particles, or crushed charcoal particles.
Here is my tender with real coal (bought at a train store):
And here is a hopper with crushed charcoal:
Doug! Awesome! That tender is fantastic! What's behind that tender? A reefer?
What class tender is the Trix tender? I haven't been able to find a lot of info on tenders. I've checked the diagrams but I can't tell some of them apart.
I've also just found out that this loco is tender pickup ONLY. Not sure how I feel about that, but I hear that old Kato steamers were also tender pickup only.
I think I'm having some pickup issues, but I think it's just dirt and grime. What to use to clean that phosphor bronze?
The gloss looks better in person, but it looks like a gloopy mess in photos. I need to make another coal load for my L1s, do you think scenic cement would ruin the natural coal sheen?
