At least in mid-Illinois, there appears to be no traffic on this line now. Rust hasn't been broken on the rail tops for at least a month. What's really odd is that a big signal upgrade (CPL to Vader hoods, and associated com gear) was completed only but a couple of years ago. Traffic had been shrinking with CSX moving more and more to the ex-CR Indy-StL line, but when I crossed the tracks an hour ago I was obviously surprised by evidence of no trains running at all.

I had heard some rumor about the Evansville Western acquiring this line, but it was nothing more than that... just talk. Anybody know anything specific about the line?

Haven't heard anything on this but the way CSX has been derailing trains recently they better keep the line for detours if anything else.
